A Full Serving of Chicken Curry and Revelation

Wednesday, 12th October 2011

Happy Birthday Rupert!
More washing! I spent the morning preparing for the Bible study tonight, the hardest part was deciding what parts of Revelation to cover in one evening.

Preparing for the Revelation Bible Study

We helped ourselves to lunch, a choice of weet-bix, corn flakes, wheat flakes, (or dandruff flakes) porridge or bananas.

After lunch I decided to take my wife on a romantic walk to the internet cafe. Sarah checked the emails and did the blog update while I tried to find accommodation for us while we are in Manila (Shalom is booked out for a couple days) next week. We were very fortunate that on our return journey a jeepney stopped for us just as we walked out to the road, and took us back to the hall. Fortunate because one of us needed a quick-I-need-to-go-now toilet stop.

The pile of rubbish needed burning, so who better to do the job than myself! To make sure that it all burnt I gave it a good spray with the RP7 first. Everything gets burned here, plastic packaging, dirty nappies, sticks and leaves, old food, so at times some of the odours that come from the fire are rather interesting. One of the bonuses of a good fire is that the smoke helps to keep the mosquitoes away.

Silas found a praying mantis

We shared a fraternal tea (as they usually do on Wednesday) and they cooked a delicious chicken curry for dinner, I even helped to scrape the bowls clean.

The Bible class was on Revelation. We began with an overview (breakup) and discussed why and to whom the book was written. Then we considered chap 12 in detail, and concluded by reading chap 4 to give a positive vision of the kingdom. After the study Jonathan, Jodel and I all had more coffee and sat talking for another hour or so.
