Bumping along to San Jose

Thursday, 8th September 2011

After a good nights sleep we rose for breakfast (Noah had porridge of course) that included more duck and tomatoes and cucumber...  We all did our morning chores and then prepared to go out for the day.

Bro Luming has the same kind of vehicle as Bro Frans, and both of these were used to take everyone to San Jose (which is across in Ifugao province). There is a small group of about  10 Bre & Sis there. They usually hold their own memorial meeting three times a month and then come over to the hall for the other Sunday. On the way there we stopped at the local market for some lunch supplies.

A yoked caribou we passed on our way to San Jose

Amusing!

After introductions we sat and relaxed while the food was prepared. The children enjoyed watching the fish being cleaned and cooked. All the cooking is done over small wood fires.

Taking a rest
We held a Bible study there and altogether there were about 35 people. Bro Luming carries a whiteboard & stand in the van which was very useful. Being able to put the main points on a board helps in getting the message across with a language barrier. Just like in Australia, when you use a whiteboard – the audience get out paper and pen and take notes.

Following my study everyone started discussing and commenting in their own language (Ilocano), so I don't know what they were saying (perhaps they were saying that the speaker was boring) but the discussions went on for another ½ hour.

Who cares!

Noah and a friend
Silas and Eden entertained themselves and others by drawing pictures on the whiteboard, while the adults sat around talking. Noah was getting hot (and a heat rash), so I stripped him off and gave a him a shower under the water pump. It was very hot and there was no breeze.

We all piled into the vans for the ½ hour drive back to the hall, stopping at the markets again, for more supplies.

Adidas - it's true, that's what it's called

After tea we went out again to another Bro Erlindo's home for another Bible study (on the beliefs of a true Christian), and then home for a well earned rest.
