Visiting Tarlac - December Youth Conference Venue

Thursday, 1st September 2011

Woke up early again. Noah with his two morning events – “Mum I have a poo”, and “Mum I want something to eat”.

Enjoying breakfast at the office

Felcris took us on the bus to Tarlac, to the University where the youth conference will be held in December. Another Five Star air-cond, this one was showing “Speed” - a movie about a bus that will explode – while travelling on a bus.

At the university we met the person in charge (who had been in this role since June this year) who had jacked up the fees well above what they paid last year. He did give us a tour of the facilities which look quite good. Felcris' persistance paid off when we were taken to the person that used to be in charge of the facilities. Felcris negotiated with her and they took a photo copy of the agreed costings. We were all getting tired and hungry, so we took a bus into Camaling to Jolibee's for lunch. Then we took a short tricycle ride in the rain to the main road to wait for another bus.

Upon arrival in Bayambang we went to the shopping mall. Mum, Sarah, Silas and Eden went upstairs to the internet cafe. Felcris, Noah and myself did some food shopping (man style) and then went upstairs to join the others. We all ended up using different computers but still didn't manage to do what we needed to.

Tea was crumbed chicken, spicy pork filled spring rolls and rice. Everyone enjoyed the food, inc the spring rolls.

Noah went to bed early because he didn't have a sleep today. The other children got ready for bed and mum read stories to them while Sarah, Felcris and I went back into town to an internet cafe. First of all we had to negotiate the muddy track back up to the road without slipping over. The children are still slipping over regularly on the slimy concrete around the hall and office.

Trike in wet weather gear

At the internet cafe we went to, the computer had keys missing from the keyboard, and the ones that were there didn't work properly. Still – we all managed to spend a couple hours there booking tickets to travel to Cebu and Bacolod and a little more updating of the blog before the 10 year old kid that was running the shop told us to leave.
