Memorial Meeting at Baguio

Sunday, 21st August 2011

Pancakes seem to be the favourite at breakfast (although Silas likes his American breakfast).

We all walked down the road to the botanical gardens this morning. They are very tropical and there are statues of igorots (the native people of Baguio).

There are also quite a number of small shops selling souvenirs, mum bought a carry bag and I bought some honey for mum from an old man plying his wares. The honey looks like there are pieces of wax and bees legs at the top. Sarah and I enjoyed taking photos. Noah and Eden enjoyed playing musical chairs while waiting for Sarah to go through the shops.

We walked back to the Mountain Lodge for an early lunch. The food here is delicious (masarap), its just a pity that they are not open for dinner.

The Memorial meeting was at 2.00pm, we caught a taxi to the hall, which was very interesting, as neither we, nor the taxi driver knew where to go, so after a few wrong turns, and asking a few people, we eventually made it to the hall.

The little hall was bursting with people. There were just as many interested friends there as there were Bre & Sis. The meeting room was full, and people were sitting in the adjacent room. We were introduced to everyone, and fortunately we remembered to get all their names written down.

During the meeting it was evident that there were some other visitors as well – mosquitoes, and big ones at that, almost like a plague of locusts they were. We were served soup and coffee and bread rolls for merianda following the meeting. It began to rain just as everyone was going to leave, so we were all delayed a little (it was about 5:30 before we got into a cab).

Another dinner at the SM mall and then off to bed.
