Our first Memorial Meeting at Bugallon

Sunday, 14th August 2011

We awoke early to Noah with LBM (loose bowel movements ie diarrhea). He spent most of the day in bed resting/sleeping, he also has a fever. At one point Sarah sat Noah in the washing tub with cold water, the local sisters were quite excited when he did a stool in the towel he was wrapped in. They examined the contents of the stool like a soothsayer (in Asterix) would the entrails of an animal, to discover the cause of his LBM.

Bre & Sis came early in the morning to the hall, many of them ate food once they arrived here. There was a lot of work going on, sweeping around the hall, burning the rubbish, preparing lunch.

I gave the exhort with bro Jonathan being the translator. I had given him a copy of the exhort on friday which he had read thoroughly and made notes all over it. The exhort went well (at least I think that it did), I stuck almost exactly to the notes and Jonathan was able to translate without any hesitation. We were all introduced to the bre & sis, but I wont mention their names because – well, I have forgotten them. It was good to see bro Joel again (did I mention the other day that I saw him at Dorcas).

The hall looks different when filled with people.
The chairs are really cool - they are wooden uni lecture chairs,
only smaller and with a storage ledge underneath

After the exhort we enjoyed a delicious fraternal lunch (Bro Cesar was responsible for most of the good cooking).

Sis Evelyn showed that she was the sister of Bro Rudy when she was laughing at Silas trying to chew some gristle.

A hive of activity in the kitchen
It was just after lunch that we decided that Noah needed some other medication to help his fever, so Bro Jonathan and I took the Jeepney to Lingayen and went to Mercury Drug store. We got paracetamol liquid and ibuprofen liquid, Gatorade and "Wilkins" bottled water.

Sunday School is held after lunch, many of the Bre & Sis take a jeepney/trike ride out to where the classes are held. Silas & Eden attended the one at the hall. It all concluded before we got back from Lingayen.

After filling Noah's bottle with Gatorade and hydrolite he proceeded to drink almost the whole lot in one continuous gulp. Once we had the medicines in liquid form, it was quite easy to get Noah's temperature down. Note to self - don't try to give tablets, even if they are chewable, to Noah when he is sick!

We did the Bible readings together with some of the local Sisters (Jinky, Christina, Ruby). Noah seemed to revive in the evening. It's amazing how quickly their little bodies recover.
