Seeing the sights at Baguio

Friday, 19th August 2011

We had our breakfast at Mountain Lodge. Around 11:00 Joas and his family (wife, Nicole and their three children, Princess, Natalie & PJ and sister-in-law) arrived to take us sight seeing. It began by taking a Jeepney to Mines view lookout. The pictures tell the story of the children sitting on pink horses. Dressing up in traditional Filipino outfits and eating maise (sweet corn). We then rode down the hill to “The Mansion” the holiday house of the president. Across the road we walked down a park to where Joas, myself and the children rode horses. It probably would have been good if I was able to sit on the saddle, not behind as I was with the back bone of the horse for a seat.

By this time we decided it was time to eat... so off to Jolibee's again (I can't believe how much junk food we are eating). After lunch we took a short walk down the hill to the main park in the middle of the city. There is an artificial lake which you can row a small boat around. The children played on the grass. My wind-up flying bird lasted about three launches before the rubber band broke. Silas' bow and arrow lasted for as long as he was using it (in fact it still works). Eden's rabbit/pig hat and Noah's wooden cobra are also still in working order.

Joas took us around the other side of the park to where we hired bicycles for an hour. The children could ride whatever bike they wanted, and swap them over to a different sort if they so desired. Silas spent most of the time riding a trike and giving the others a ride.

Eden preferred riding a bike without the side car

The children are tired, the fog was coming in and it was 5:00, so we caught a taxi back to the lodge.

It was really nice to be able to spend a day with there family and let the children play with each other.

Back to SM for tea (this time the Old Spaghetti House), then back for bed.
